Lady Loggers drop game to Columbia Falls

After an impressive victory at home against Flathead on Friday afternoon, the Lady Loggers took one on the chin as they visited Columbia Falls on Saturday, falling 59-20.

Perhaps fatigue from the previous day’s exertions played a factor. The Lady Loggers played a tight first quarter, trailing 13-11, but then managed only nine points for the rest of the game as Columbia Falls dropped in another 46.

Libby’s girls shot only 21 percent from the field, going 8-for-38, and hitting only one from behind the three-point line. They added only three of seven from the foul line, for 42 percent.

Coach Jim May said after the game, “The bar is now clearly set in our conference. Columbia Falls is the team to beat! We had some good stretches against Columbia Falls, but too many big, bad stretches. After a third of our games, our focus must be better than ever.”

Columbia Falls leads the Northwest Conference seven of nine statistical categories: three-point field goal percentage, two-point field goal percentage, combined field goal percentage, team free throw percentage, team points differential per game, blocks per game and assists per game. They rate second in the other two categories, rebounds and steals per game, behind Frenchtown.

The Lady Loggers highest statistical ranking is in assists per game, with their average of 9.17 placing them second. They are third in two-point field goal percentage, combined field goal percentage, team point differential per game, and blocks per game.

Hailey Craig and Devon Gallagher led the Lady Loggers with seven points each. Craig also had two rebounds and Gallagher added another.
