Ron Domino

72, of Libby

Our sweet and loving husband, father, brother, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother-in-law and wonderful friend went peacefully to heaven to be with his Lord and Savior on Dec. 12, 2014, after a brave and heroic 21-year battle with cancer. He was surrounded with love by family and friends during the last week of his life.

Ron was born on Feb. 16, 1942 to Leo and Stefania Domino in Milwaukee, Wisc. He was the second of three sons born to Leo and Stefania.

He enlisted in the United States Navy and served four years defending our country until his honorable discharge in 1963.

Upon a suggestion from one of his Navy buddies, he moved to Libby in 1963 where he resided with his “second mother and father,” Les and Edie Moles and family until he met and married Judith Belangie in Libby.

Ron and Judy were blessed with 3 children, David, Mark and Stefania, during their 10-year marriage, which ultimately ended in divorce.

Ron married Sandra Murdock of Plains in 1985 and they made their home in Libby for their entire 30 years of marriage.

Sandra had two children, Dawn and Kevin, from a previous marriage. Ron never considered them stepchildren, he treated them and thought of them as his own.

Ron was employed at St. Regis Paper Company for 26 years.

Ron had many things in life that he loved and was passionate about. First and foremost were his family, friends and his pets.

He was a lover of every aspect of the outdoors. In earlier years, he enjoyed fishing the Kootenai River in Libby, snowmobiling with family and friends and riding motorcycles.

He was a perfectionist and he expected everyone around him to be as “picky” as he was. That was a tough criteria for most of his family and friends to live up to!

He was meticulous with the care of his lawn and flowers. Ron was known for having one of the “nicest lawns in Libby!”

He kept his vehicles, snow blowers, lawnmowers and tools in immaculate condition, from top to bottom.

One of Ron’s friends was quoted as saying, “Ron is the only person that I have ever known who washes and waxes his lawn mowers and snow blowers!”

Ron also loved gadgets - any gadget. In recent years, he particularly took a liking to flashlights and pens. Anyone that knew Ron has in their possession right now one or more LED flashlights that he regularly passed out to his family and friends, just because he thought that “they were cool and you might need one!”

Ron served as a member of the Libby Jaycees for many years, as well as a volunteer with Libby Volunteer Ambulance for several years.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents, Leo and Stefania, his son Mark and his beloved pets, Doodles(cat) and Tootsie(dog).

Ron is survived by his wife Sandy; his brothers Rich and Ken; his sister Lisa and partner Candie; his brother-in-law Leland “Butch” Murdock; his children David, Stefania, Dawn and husband Jeff, and Kevin and wife Michele; his grandchildren Tyler and wife Destiny, Brekel, Amanda, Heather, Nick, Danielle, Bryan and Brandon; his great- grandchildren Faith, Jacob, Giana and Jayden.

The family would like to send their “deepest regards and heartfelt thanks” to Dr. Steven Anthony and the entire staff at Evergreen Hematology-Oncology in Spokane, Wash.

A memorial service and military interment are tentatively planned for Saturday, July 18, 2015 in Libby. Further details will be provided at a later date.
