Vernon F. Riley

Vernon F. Riley, 74, of Libby, died Monday, Feb. 23, 2015, at his home in Libby.  He was born on Sept. 16, 1940, at Hamilton, to Merwyn A. and Lucille Riley. He moved to Libby at an early age and attended the Libby school system.  

He married Toni Hall on December 8, 1961. Vern went to work at the box factory for J. Neils Lumber Company and then at St. Regis for 29 years.  

Vern was an active member of David Thompson Search & Rescue and Libby Volunteer Ambulance.  He was a member of the Libby Christian Church for many years.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and enjoying the outdoors.  He will be missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Toni and a brother, Don Riley.

Survivors include his children, Mike Riley (Peggy) of San Diego, Calif.; Laurie Kempter of Libby; Billy Joe Riley (Ramey) of Marysville, Wash.; Chuck Riley of Libby; 6 grandchildren, Christian, Josh, Jackie, Monika, Bill and Chad; a sister, Becky Sailor (Mike) of Superior and a special cousin Todd Riley (Jan) of Sandpoint, Idaho.

Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, March 1, 2015, at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby. Services will be at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 2, 2015, at the Libby Christian Church.  Online memories and condolences may be made at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
