Jan. 10
• A black Chevrolet pickup was traveling in excess of 80 mph on Farm to Market Road. Sheriff’s officers attempted to pull over the vehicle as it sped away losing a spare tire in the process. The vehicle was later located at Klatawa Lake.
• An alarm was activated from a business on Highway 37. Sheriff’s deputies responded and saw some files on the floor, but nothing else seemed amiss. They attempted to reach the owners of the establishment to no avail.
• An employee at a local casino reported finding drug paraphernalia at the business.
• A caller reported people climbing on the fire escape at a school. Police responded and no citations were given.
• A man on 2nd Street called to request a welfare check on his father whom he hadn’t seen in 29 years. Officers located the man who didn’t have a phone and he requested they give his son his address.
• A woman on Park Street reported a loose dog attacked her dog so she hit it with a baseball bat. The woman said her dog was OK.
• A caller on Spokane Avenue reported an argument. Officers responded to check the situation.
Jan. 11
• A 58-year old man was given a citation for driving under the influence of drugs.
• A ranch hand turned himself in for writing bad checks.
• A caller on Highway 37 reported a man shooting ducks from the highway and having his dog retrieve them.
• A caller on 5th Street reported a drunk and disorderly man refusing to leave their residence. Sheriff’s officers responded and gave the man a trespass order.
• A caller on Commerce Way reported a woman screaming outside an apartment complex. Officers arrived, but didn’t locate the screaming woman.
Jan. 12
• A caller on Farm to Market Road reported a man in a silver minivan taking pictures of his property. When confronted, the man fled.
• A person went into the sheriff’s lobby and reported that someone stole loose change from his neighbor’s car.
• An out-of-state caller requested a welfare check for a man who had been out of contact for several months. A dispatcher contacted the owner of the property where the individual had been staying and was informed a nephew moved the man out several weeks ago.
• A woman on Park Street reported a cougar in her yard stalking her dog.
