Faith Spencer

The last of the Spencer Road clan, Faith Zollars Spencer, 90, of Libby, passed away on Feb. 14, 2015, at Libby Care Center. She was the eldest child of Walter C. and Irene Zollars, Sr.

Born in 1925 in Libby, Faith attended Libby schools and later pursued a degree in elementary education. Besides teaching in the Libby School District, Faith spent many years as a bookkeeper at Libby Rexall Drug Store. She was a life-long member of the First Presbyterian Church.

As an avid golfer, she was a member of the Cabinet View Country Club and was known as “Fairway Faith.”  She was a fierce competitor when playing cards.  Music was another passion of Faith’s. She also supported the Libby wrestling program and was an ardent fan of Legion baseball.

Faith is survived by her four children including Linda Massey and son-in-law Lanny of Springfield, Ore., Kurt Spencer and his wife Cathy of Libby, Lenora Reckin and husband Gene of Libby, Tracy Spencer and son-in-law Brian Schultz of Medical Lake, Wash.; five grandsons, Jeris, Trevor, Cole, Jake, and Turner; three granddaughters, Kara, Rachel, and Kelsey; and five great-grandchildren, Michaela, Ayden, Cason, Kadence, Beckam, and one child expected in May; multiple loving nieces and nephews; her sister, Ferne Zollars Pearson of Portland, Ore. and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Leonard M. Spencer, as well as her brother Walter C. “Buddy” Zollars, Jr.

Having a smile that endeared Faith to everyone, she will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Libby Schools Music Program at 150 Education Way.

The funeral service will be held at the Christ Lutheran Church on Feb. 27, 2015, at 2 p.m. Interment will follow at the Libby Cemetery. Arrangements are being handled by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
