Medical marijuana burglary nets five years for Idaho man
HELENA — A 23-year-old Idaho man who pleaded guilty to robbing a Montana medical marijuana provider has been sentenced to 15 years in prison with 10 suspended.
The Independent Record reports (http://bit.ly/1AfA9sT ) Kendal Dean Yorgensen of Idaho Falls pleaded guilty to aggravated burglary, robbery and assault for a January 2011 crime in Helena in which he and another man threatened two residents with a gun, tied their hands behind their backs and took an ounce of marijuana, cash and a cellphone.
Court records say DNA evidence led to Yorgensen’s arrest in 2014.
District Judge Mike Menahan said Wednesday he was sentencing Yorgensen to prison due to the “violent, scary nature” of the crime. Idaho Department of Correction records show Yorgensen is on probation there for a drug conviction.
