Libby runaway listed as endangered

Wednesday morning Libby Police changed the status of Selena Shriner, age 15, to missing and endangered in the National Crime Information Center database.

Shriner, who was last seen in Libby on Jan. 26, was previously listed as a runaway with national authorities.

Sgt. Terry Watson of the Libby Police Department is the lead investigator on the case. He said rumors have surfaced placing her in Dillon and Missoula, as well as in locations as far away as Spokane, Wash.

Watson said it was his understanding that Shriner left town with an adult male, but he was unsure if they were still together. The male, unidentified by authorities, “isn’t talking to us,” Watson said.

Authorities are starting to suspect foul play may be involved, as police are unable to locate anyone with whom Shriner has had contact during the past 16 days. “Teens live on social media,” Watson said. “But there’s nothing from her, nothing at all.”

Selena’s mother, Susan Shriner of Libby, just wants to know that her daughter is safe.

“I just love her and want her to come home,” she said. “Please just call me and let me know you’re safe.”

Police are asking for anyone with information to contact the Libby Police department.
