Harry Bowers, Jr.
Harry “Sonny” William Bowers, Jr., 75, of Kalispell, passed away peacefully at his home with Kathleen Bowers, his loving wife of 34 years, by his side. Sonny was born in Masury, Ohio on Sept. 9, 1939, to Harry and Kathryn Bowers. The family moved to Whitefish when Sonny was just 6 months old. Sonny was a life -long resident of the Flathead Valley. He was a “jack of all trades” and worked at many different jobs over his lifetime.
Sonny’s greatest love, next to his wife Kathy, was the outdoors. Anyone who knew him knew that, depending on the season, he would be out with family doing one of the activities he liked best. He loved to take the kids, grandkids, or great-grandkids out camping, hunting, ice fishing, huckleberry picking or out to fish on the many lakes and streams that he knew and loved. His family and friends will always treasure memories of those times with him. Sonny was greatly loved by his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Sonny was preceded in death by his parents and a great-great-grandchild. Sonny is survived by his wife, Kathleen Bowers; sister, Kathryn “June” Edkelberry of Spokane, Wash.; brother, Leonard Bowers of Troy; children Karen Jennison of Conrad, MaryAnn Davis, Patricia Parsons and Phillip Baker of Kalispell, Hilton “Bill” Bowers of Libby, Harry Lee Bowers of Whitefish, John Oved of Calipatria, Calif., Katherine Lanegan of Whitefish; stepchildren Rhonda Baker of Kalispell and Arnold Deans of Bigfork; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kalbfleisch for the wonderful care. A Celebration of Life will be held on Feb. 7 from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. at Family Life Christian Church in Kalispell. Everyone who knew Sonny is welcome to bring your stories and join us in remembering him.
