44, of Libby

 

Scott Robert Riddel, 44, died on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 2015, at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center. He was born Aug. 18, 1971, in La Mesa, Calif., to Dr. William Jay and Donna Rae Riddel. Scott attended grade school in La Mesa until the family moved to Weed, Calif., where he continued school. He graduated from Libby Senior High School in 1989 and attended Flathead Valley Community College and the University of Montana. 

Among his favorite hobbies Scott loved biking, skate boarding, bird watching and caring for animals, and a good game of cards. Scott was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Diego Chargers football teams. He always carried pens and smiley face buttons that he shared with everyone. As a young boy he played Little League baseball on the All-star team. Scott participated in the Young Writers Club of Northern California.

He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Novella Riddel and grandparents Robert and Edna Baker.

Scott is survived by his parents, Jay and Donna Rae Riddel of Libby; four siblings including Joel Riddel (Joni) of Libby; Mary Gelhausen (Adam) of Spokane, Wash.; Ben Riddel (Xannie) of Libby and Jenni Bickel (Jay) of Sandpoint, Idaho; eight nieces and nephews, Jay A Riddel, Trent Riddel, Tyler Riddel, Sophia Riddel, Jackson Riddel, Katie Gelhausen, Aidan Gelhausen and Gracie Bickel and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. 

Services were held on Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2015, at 1 p.m. at Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home followed by interment at Libby Cemetery. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
