Loggers drop close game to Bluehawks

The Libby Loggers lost their visiting game against Thompson Falls by a sliver, with a final score of 56-50 on Friday, Dec. 18.

In the first quarter, Libby scored barely half as much as Thompson Falls, with a score of 9-20. The Loggers picked up the pace a little in the second quarter, scoring 13 points while Thompson Falls’ Bluehawks 15, but still ended the half with 22 points to the Bluehawks’ 35.

In the third, Libby narrowly caught up, scoring 17 points compared to Thompson Falls’ six, putting the score at 39-41.

In the end, Libby’s effort wasn’t enough, as they ended the second half six points behind Thompson Falls, scoring 11 points to the Bluehawks’ 15 points in the fourth.

The game’s records allege that seniors Anthony Johnson, Jonny Cielak and Ryggs Johnston were the big scorers for the night, with Johnson making six of his 12 attempts at shots, and four of his eight attempted three-pointers. 

Meanwhile, Cielak made three of his 10 attempted shots and two of his seven attempted three-point shots. In addition, Cielak made six of his seven attempted free throws.

Finally, Johnston made four of his eight attempted field goals, and two of his five three-point attempts. He also managed three for three in his attempted and made free throws..

Johnson, Cielak and Johnston scored 16, 14 and 13 points respectively.
