Lady Trojans beat Trotters
Troy’s Lady Trojans went on the road Saturday, picking up their second win in two nights by beating Plains 46-32 on Friday, Dec. 18 after their win against Noxon at home.
Troy started off the game rocky, scoring four points to Plains’ six. However, by the end of the half, the Trojans were able to pull ahead to a narrow lead over Plains, going into the locker room up 14-12.
The Lady Trojans’ coach, Justin Young, said that during the third quarter, his team was able to pull ahead of plains by 8 points, courtesy of junior Allie Brown.
“The Lady Trojans quickly pulled ahead by 8 with back-to-back three-pointers by Allie Brown on the first two possessions of the second half,” said Young. “I was very happy with how the girls played in the second half. Every run Plains made, our girls would respond back with one of their own. The girls knocked down some key free throws in the fourth quarter that helped secure the win.”
Brown was also the leading scorer against Plains that night, contributing 18 points to Troy’s victory.
Young said that scoring a win against both Plains and Noxon made for a great weekend.
“This was a great weekend of basketball for us,” said Young. “The girls played gritty, team-oriented basketball and it showed on the court as well as the scoreboard. I was also happy with the two different manners in which we won. During the Noxon game, we rode our posts to the win. In Plains, we really relied on our guards to knock down some shots and take care of the ball against a real athletic Plains group. It was a total team effort and every player in our program contributed to the success we had this weekend.”
The Lady Trojans will travel to Libby to face their Lady Loggers on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 5:30 p.m.
