Libby’s Lady Loggers trumped Thompson Falls’ Lady Bluehawks with a score of 36-23 during their meet in Thompson Falls on Friday, Dec. 18.

The Lady Loggers and Lady Bluehawks matched a score of four points during the first quarter. Libby got a narrow, but decisive lead in the second quarter, scoring 11 points to Thompson Falls’ 10.

Libby scored 10 more points during the third quarter while the Lady Bluehawks didn’t score a single point. Finally, in the fourth quarter, the Lady Loggers scored 11 points against Thompson Falls’ 9 points. This put Libby 13 points ahead of Thompson Falls by the end.

Sophomore Shannon Reny, freshman Jayden Winslow and junior Madisen Monigold were Libby’s big scorers for the night, scoring 11, eight and eight points respectively.

Libby Girls’ Basketball coach Jim May praised the Lady Loggers for their win, which he attributed to good defense.

“It was a good defensive game for us,” said May. “We managed to hold their scorers down and really made it hard for them to get shots off. Our offense got going a little bit better in the second half and we slowly pulled away. We only committed 11 turnovers for the game. A road win was a nice way to start off our conference season.”
