Horsemen romp over Trojans
The Trojans dropped their meet at Plains against the Horsemen 56-37 on Friday, Dec. 18 after their home win the previous day.
For almost the entire game, Troy came up short. They scored 7 points in the first quarter of the game, which accounted for barely even half of Troy’s 15 points.
Troy was able to lead the game in scores for the second quarter alone, scoring 12 over Plains’ 10, but were still behind Plains for the first half, which ended at 25-19.
For the second half, the game belonged to the Horsemen. They scored 14 in the third quarter and 17 in the fourth while Troy scored 9 in both the third and fourth quarters, losing the game by 19 points to Plains.
Troy Boys’ Basketball coach Jerry Mee attributed Troy’s loss to problems on offense.
“We had a hard time offensively all night,” said Mee. “We battled the entire game to get back in. We cut it to six and had the ball with four minutes, but the bottom fell out. Things snowballed from that point on defense and we could not hit any shots.”
Even though Troy lost, players Sean Opland and Mason Chapel gave it their best, contributing 12 and 8 points to Troy’s final score respectively.
The Trojans will travel to Libby to face the Loggers in their home court on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m.
