Local businesses will participate in the Girls Night Out on Friday, Dec. 11, from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m., giving holiday shoppers a chance to take advantage of local holiday deals.

Ten Libby businesses will keep their doors open late to accommodate shoppers. Each of these businesses will have special offers that may interest customers, including sales, drawings and refreshments. The businesses will also hold a grand prize drawing together, in which the winner will receive a $100 gift certificate that can be redeemed at any of their shops.

To qualify for the drawing, shoppers need only take a stamp card, issued at the beginning of their night, and get it stamped at each one of the businesses.

Linda Remp, owner of Dream Marine, organized the Girls Night Out and said she got the idea for the event after witnessing a special event for women held at local businesses in Whitefish and an art walk held on Main Street in Kalispell.

“As I was driving home, I was thinking, ‘why doesn’t Libby do something like this?’” said Remp. “I thought I could promote something women would enjoy and promote local businesses.”

After the success of the first event in 2013, Remp decided to hold it subsequent years as a way of spreading Christmas cheer. Remp said each of the businesses go out of their way to make the event special in their own way.

The ten businesses actually participating in the Girls Night Out are Rivermist Home Décor & Gift, Libby Floral & Gift, Dream Marine, Frames Unlimited & Engraving, Good News Christian Books & Music, Managhan’s Furniture, Cultured Purl & Cabinet Books, Libby Sports Center, Homesteader’s Ranch & Feed Supply and Mountain Meadows. The gift certificate awarded in the grand prize drawing can be redeemed at any one of these places.

Ten other businesses, while not actually participating in the Girls Night Out, will also stay open and have special offers available. The additional businesses are Torgy’s Restaurant & Casino, Pinup Girls Salon, Starlite Electronic/Radio Shack, Cabinet Brewing Co., Find Your Light Yoga Studio, Headlines/My Sister’s Closet, Hava Java, Libby Dollar Store, Venture Inn & Restaurant and Libby’s Closet. The gift certificate cannot be redeemed at any of these places.
