Montana gas prices fall

Average retail gasoline prices in Montana have fallen 6.9 cents per gallon in the past week, averaging $2.22 per gallon yesterday, according to GasBuddy’s daily survey of 615 gas outlets in Montana. This compares with the national average that has not moved  in the last week, at $2.03 per gallon, according to gasoline price website GasBuddy.com. 

Including the change in gas prices in Montana during the past week, prices yesterday were 60.0 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 10.6 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. The national average has decreased 18.5 cents per gallon during the last month and stands 63.2 cents per gallon lower than this day one year ago. 

 

Ski Club equipment rental Dec. 12

The Kootenai Cross-Country Ski Club equipment rental day  is scheduled for Saturday, Dec. 12, from 9 a.m. until noon at Asa Wood School. Please use the north entrance instead of the front doors. Equipment is rented for the entire season for $25 for the first person in the family and $20 for each additional family member, plus a $10 per person deposit that is refunded when the equipment is returned in the spring.

 

Stevenson wins fundraiser raffle

Friends of Sue Grabinski from Christ Lutheran headed up a series of fundraisers to help her and her family with expenses related to her battle with colon cancer. In addition to a dinner and silent auction in September, a quilt raffle was held. Sue, who lives in Troy, worships at Christ Lutheran in Libby. Glenda Orr, a co-worker at the Troy Food Pantry, made a beautiful quilt that was raffled off in October and November. Kirsten Kaiser Stevenson who lives in Libby and works in Troy as the Ranger for the Forest Service was the winner.

 

Elks Kids Christmas party Dec. 14

The annual Elks Kids Christmas Party will be on Dec. 14 at the Lodge at 220 W. Fourth Street starting at 5 p.m. Santa will arrive on the fire truck to talk to all the boys and girls. There will be presents for kids 10 and younger along with hot dogs, chips and Tang for the kids and their families.

 

Santa to visit Shopko Hometown Dec. 12

Santa Claus is coming to Shopko Hometown Dec. 12. Santa will be available to visit with area children take photos from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Parents may take their own pictures of their children with Santa Claus as a photographer will not be on site to take or sell photos. 

 

 

Music for the holidays

The Libby Middle School, High School and Children’s Select Choirs will perform the annual Christmas concert at the Libby Memorial Events Center at 7 p.m. Dec. 15.

The Libby Community Choir and Orchestra will perform Handel’s Messiah Dec. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Libby Memorial Events Center.

The Libby Elementary fourth and fifth grades will perform their annual Christmas program at 2 p.m. in the elementary school gym, the kindergarten through second grades will perform their program at 1:30 p.m. on Dec. 22, also in the school gym.

 

Pitiful Players to perform “A Christmas Carol”

The Pitiful Players proudly present Charles Dickens’ “A Christmas Carol.” Shows are Friday, Dec. 18, and Saturday, Dec. 19, both evenings at 7 p.m. at the Maki Theatre in Libby. Then Sunday, Dec. 20, 3 p.m., at the Lincoln Theatre in Troy. As with all Pitiful Player Productions, there is no charge.
