With three of last year’s starting five returning to the court this season and a solid supporting cast of players with varsity experience, Troy head coach Jerry Mee is optimistic about his team’s coming season.

Mee said he expects the returning starters, Sean Opland, Adam Tallmadge and Kolten Winebark to lead the team to victory this season.

“All three seniors can handle the ball, shoot and play inside,” said Mee. “They are high quality individuals.”

In addition to the big three, Mee said he expects senior Cody Johnston and juniors Mason Chapel, Dillon Savage and Tucker Winn to step up and perform this season.

The key to the Trojans’ success this year, Mee said, will be the Trojans’ character and willingness to work. He characterized the conference as tough and said his team will need to work hard all season in order to be successful.

“Our team will need to understand that the season is a work in progress,” said Mee. “We need to be better at the end of the year and playing our best ball at the end of the season.”

Mee said  teamwork, dedication and having fun are the lessons he wants his team to learn this season.

“I teach my players to play together through thick and thin, and to work hard, play hard and have fun,” said Mee.

The Trojans tip off the season Thursday, Dec. 10, at home against Stillwater. The game is scheduled for 5 p.m.
