Oct. 27

• A caller reported a domestic disturbance on Bowker Street. Sheriff’s Office officers arrested an adult male and charged him with assault.

• Troy dispatch reported two people starting a fire on Callahan Creek Road. Troy Fire Department responded and found a structural fire and a second fire on a nearby hillside, along with a vehicle crash. Lincoln County Sheriff’s deputies arrested two individuals and charged them with driving under the influence.

• A Libby area caller reported her mother received harassing phone calls and letters. The caller did not know her mother’s address. The mother did not have caller ID and could not block the number, but the letters were coming from New York. The caller said she would call back when she could get more information from her mother. The caller did not call back.

• A caller on 2nd St reported a stolen washing machine.

• Game wardens  went to check a vehicle on Highway 2 regarding an elk.

• Authorities required a deputy to contact a caller on Bobtail Meadow Road regarding an easement dispute.

• Fish, Wildlife & Parks officers found an unlocked gate on Houghton Creek that was supposed to be locked. An officer drove up the road to see if anyone had gone through the gate, but found no one.

• A 911 caller at Lewis Loop reported an assault victim. 

• A caller on Highway 2 reported a cyclist rode past her house and flipped her off.

• A caller on East 8th St reported tools stolen from their garage.

• A caller reported to  game wardens that a moose calf had been in the area all day.

• A caller reported a person driving without a license or insurance on 2nd St. A man was arrested and charged as such.

• A caller at East 10th St said he had a friend staying with him who is refusing to leave. The resident was concerned the situation could turn violent. By the time police arrived, the friend had left on foot with his son.

• Troy dispatch reported a male in a minivan who pulled off the road just east of Kootenai Falls and appeared to be snorting and smoking drugs. Authorities investigated, but found no evidence of drug use. The vehicle was found disabled and authorities helped the driver on his way.

• A caller on Timber Lane reported a suspicious person in the alley behind their residence with a flashlight.  Sheriff’s deputies made contact with the homeowner and found no one in the area, but said they would keep looking.

• A caller on 4th St reported a “No Parking” sign knocked over in the street. Police reported the sign intact, but pulled out, before putting it back in place.

 

Nov. 2

• The Sheriff’s Office received multiple calls regarding a man walking down the middle of Highway 2 with a blanket on his head. The man was OK.

• A caller on Montana Avenue found a person sleeping in her carport. The caller reported that the person started walking down 2nd St toward Mineral Ave wearing a long coat, a scarf, pants and carrying a purse. The caller was found okay.

• A caller on Highway 2 reported that his wife hit a deer. The vehicle was drivable, but damaged. The caller was advised to obtain an accident report from the Sheriff’s Office

• A caller at a local motel reported two vehicles broken into overnight.

• A caller on Flower Creek Road reported 40 gallons of diesel stolen from one of their vehicles.

• A caller at a local business reported a man who previously trespassed on their property was circling the building again.

• A probation officer requested an officer to arrest a woman for violating her probation.

• A caller on Prospect Avenue reported some starving horses.

• A Libby area caller reported a man harassing his wife. The caller had previously bought a motorcycle from the man. The man was calling to speak with a deputy about the motorcycle not being paid for.

 

 

 

 

• A caller on Park St asked the Sheriff’s Office to check on a neighbor, who had not been seen in days.

• The Sheriff’s Office brought a man in for detention at a local jail.

• A caller on Louisiana Ave reported receiving scam calls from someone claiming to be from the IRS.

• A probation officer called for a welfare check on a subject.

• A caller on Highway 2 hit a deer and called to request info on salvage. Montana Highway Patrol gave the caller the Fish, Wildlife & Parks website and the local warden’s phone number.

• A Libby area caller read about a found ring in the newspaper and wondered about it being one she lost in late September or early October.

• A caller on Idaho Ave reported someone trying to come in the back door. Police responded, but found no evidence of attempted entry.

Nov. 3

• A patient transported to a local hospital requested someone to check on his wife on Highway 2 in the morning. The Sheriff’s Office checked on the patient’s wife and found her doing okay.

• A caller on Chase Cutoff Road sold an item on Craigslist and received a check from the buyer, but the check was no good.

• A caller on Forest Ave reported a broken vehicle window. The caller was not sure if anything was missing. The Sheriff’s Office took the report, but the caller found that nothing was taken.

• The principal of a local school requested a drug hit with a dog. Police took a man back to his home.

• A caller on Lolo Ave reported items stolen from their garage in mid-July.

• A caller on McGinnes Meadows Ranch Road wanted to speak to an officer regarding someone putting up gates on his property, cutting off water to his cows.

• A probation officer reported two fjord horses tied up on E 2nd St with no food or water and asked for it to be checked. The woman who rode the horses from coast to coast checked out.

• A Troy officer reported a woman calling in a man wearing a gray sweatshirt and jeans walking on the cement barriers along Highway 2, heading toward Libby from about a mile east of Troy.

• Police cited a vehicle on Mineral Ave for parking the wrong way along the street in front of a local business.

• A 911 caller on Norman Ave requested a wrecker. The caller tried to back the vehicle closer to the front door, but got hung up on a rock, pinching his oxygen hose off. The caller refused an ambulance. Officers dislodged the caller’s vehicle and ensured the caller’s welfare.

• The Sheriff’s Office responded to a caller on Waterfront Road, asking for a welfare check on their neighbor. Officers found the garage door open with a car and a boat inside. Officers checked the place but found the door locked and nothing out of place.

• Multiple 911 callers reported a head-on collision on Highway 2. The Police and Sheriff’s Office responded, along with the Ambulance Barn and Fire Engine Barn. Authorities erected a road block and got the drivers away from their vehicles.

• A caller on Highway 2 reported a dead deer in the middle of the highway. An officer of the Sheriff’s Office removed the deer from the road.

• A caller on Highway 37 reported a dead dear on the side of the road near the guard rail.

• A caller asked to speak to an officer of the Sheriff’s Office about a theft from a friend’s vehicle on Saturday and a suspicious person seen looking in her own vehicle earlier in the day. All officers were busy at the time of the call. Dispatch said they would notify an officer when one became available.

• A caller on Bobtail Road reported a fire burning in the woods. Dispatch told the caller it may be a controlled burn, then called Kootenai dispatch. An officer with Kootenai dispatch said she would look into it and make contact with the caller.

• A 911 caller on Lolo Ave reported her boyfriend hurt her earlier. Both the caller and the boyfriend had been drinking and no weapons were on the scene. Libby Police Department officers made an arrest.

• A caller in the post office reported hearing the alarm beeping. An officer tried to reach the postmaster, but the cell number on file was invalid. The officer left a message on the postmaster’s home answering machine. The postmaster called back and said that it probably was not an emergency and that he would go and shut the alarm off.

• A caller on Frazey Loop reported shots fired. Officers responded, but couldn’t find anything.

Nov. 4

• A caller on Pioneer Road said she was woken up by a loud bang and heard her dog barking. The caller turned on all of her lights, but didn’t see anything.

• A 911 caller on Main St reported smoke coming out of a residence at the corner of Larch and Main. Officers paged the Libby Volunteer Fire Department. Firemen responded and called the local power company to turn the power off. Firemen cleared the scene.

• A probation officer requested an officer to transport a probation violator. An officer arrived and made an arrest.

• A caller on Conifer Road reported a teenager pointed a rifle at her son while her son was out in a field over the weekend.

• Troy dispatch reported a vehicle parked off Lake Creek Road with the windows down for about a week.

• An officer reported an employee at a local business who wanted to make a complaint about a shoplifting that happened on Monday.

• A caller on Lake Creek Road reported a vehicle parked off the side of the road with the windows broken out and the internal wiring pulled out. The caller said that Troy dispatch told her the owner of the vehicle said the vehicle was on private property, but the caller believes that it was Stimson property.

• A caller at a local apartment complex said she heard from their son’s caregiver that their son was very intoxicated and that his friend was trying to get him to go and get methamphetamine. The caller was concerned for the son’s safety.

• A 52-year-old woman on Commerce Way was arrested on an outstanding warrant for failure to appear in court on charge of possession of dangerous drugs.

• A caller on Timber Lane said their teenage son was out of control. The youth was taken to Troy detention.

• A caller on Highway 2 reported a man walking and causing a disturbance.

Nov. 5

• A caller in a local apartment complex called to report her partner had assaulted her. Officers separated the parties and advised them to have no contact with each other.

• An anonymous caller reported someone called them, claiming to be the IRS. The caller did not give any information and just wanted to let the authorities know.

• A caller on State Line Drive received a call from someone claiming to be the IRS.
