William Denton

William Monroe Denton, “Bill,” 64, went to be with His Lord and Savior on Sunday morning, Aug. 23, 2015.    Bill was born June 19, 1951, to Wilson and Ioma (Horn) Denton in Britt, Iowa. In 1953, the family moved to St. Louis, Mo. They lived in Alton, Ill., Sikeston,  Mo., and eventually moved to Sedgewickville, Mo., in 1963. In the 6th grade he met his soul mate Sharon (Wilfong) and they married in 1969.

Bill joined the Marine Corps on Dec. 2, 1970, where he spent 4 years and was honorably discharged as a sergeant, working as a crew chief helicopter mechanic. He served in Vietnam in 1973. He received many medals and badges while in the service, some of which included the Good Conduct Medal, Rifle Expert Medal and Pistol Sharpshooter Badge. He also received an award from the Commandant of the Marine Corps.

On June 19, 1976, Bill and Sharon moved their family to Montana, and in the fall of 1979 they moved to the Yaak and raised their 4 children.  Bill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and Vietnam veteran. He is our hero and taught all his children and grandchildren everything, from his love of the northwestern part of Montana to trapping, archery, hunting, gold panning, horses, carpentry and his ultimate, greatest love of Jesus Christ.

Bill is preceded in death by his father Wilson; mother Ioma and oldest brother Ronnie.

He is survived by his wife of 46 years Sharon; son Bryan and Crystal (Troy); daughter Jennifer (Missouri); son Jayson (Athol, Idaho); son Gerrid and Carrie (Troy); grandchildren Jeremy, Ashley (Eric), Tammie (Dustin), Jessica, Rebekah (Kolton), Ethan, Clay and Darrin; great-grandchildren Hunter, Ashlyn, Olivia and Trinity with one more on the way; siblings Jerry and Margaret (Missouri), Bonnie and Alan (Montana), Randy and Betty (Missouri), sister-in-law Ellen (Kentucky) and all his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and all his friends.
