Herbert Baney

Herbert D. Baney of Libby passed away on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2015, at the age of 76.

Herb was born to parents Hiram and Charlotte Baney on Oct. 13, 1938, in Plentywood. He grew up as the fourth of 13 children. In 1958, he married Marlys Stenbakken. Together they had four children and later divorced.

Herb is survived by children Don (Ramona) Baney of Libby, Duane (Karla) Baney of Stevensville and Janice (Jeff) Sharp of Sidney; grandchildren Jennifer (Joe) McElmurry, Donny (Cassi) Baney, Kyle Baney, Brandon Baney, Noah Baney, Jeff (Jonathan) Sharp, Lisa Sharp (Kayla) Fountain-Sharp and Shelby Sharp; great-grandchildren Ryker and Lyndee McElmurry, Rossi and Mattie Baney, Andrew, Kiyana and Rainey Sharp; sisters Eleanor Koepke, Linda (Pete) Fassett and Roberta Baney, all of Cut Bank, Barbara DeZort of Kalispell, Beverly (John) Parton of Watford City, N.D., Patsy (George) Werner of Canton, Ohio, Lillian (Loy) Ellsworth of Beverly, N.J. and brothers Donald (Lynn) Baney of Shelby and Richard Baney of Watford City, N.D.

He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant son Kevin Baney, sister Lila Hanson and brothers Stanley Baney and Harold Baney.

A memorial luncheon celebrating Herb’s life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. at the Elks Lodge in Libby. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Libby Youth Baseball/Softball Association, P.O. Box 1015, Libby, MT  59923.
