Rep. Zinke does not represent Montana values

| August 4, 2015 9:22 AM

Our Congressman, Ryan Zinke, is supposed to be taking care of and looking out for our best interests. He is not.

He recently voted in favor of HR 1599 making genetically modified organism labeling optional. “The Food and Drug Administration must allow, but not require, GMO food to be labeled as GMO,” according to the bill.

His form response letter to me in regards to this states “Montanans have a right to know what is in the food they are eating and preparing for their families, which is exactly why I voted for the Safe and Accurate Food Labeling Act.”?

His statement to me is clearly counter to what the bill reads. He either didn’t read the bill (can we say Baucus?), didn’t understand the bill or is straight lying in his form reply. It makes me wonder how much Monsanto money he’s pocketing. He’s looking out for his concerns and interests, not ours.

I sincerely hope you take the brief time to contact him regarding his vote against our right to know what we’re eating.

It’s way past time we start holding our elected officials accountable to us, not themselves or whatever party they’re in. He comes up for re-election in a year and a half. He clearly does not have the Montana values he claimed he has. Actions speak louder than words, and we see his actions against us.
