Libby's Movers and Shakers
Kala Linville, RN, BSN has recently taken over as manager of the Cabinet Peaks Medical Center Acute Care Department. Kala has been a member of the Cabinet Peaks team for one year, and has been a registered nurse for more than 12 years. She has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Oregon Health and Science University in Ashland, Ore.
Kala started working in healthcare when she was 16. She worked alongside her father, a Nurse Practitioner, in his medical office taking vital signs and assisting with minor procedures. She then worked as a Mental Health Assistant on a locked Mental Health Ward in a large hospital for a year while she was completing nursing school. Prior to coming to Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in August of 2014, Kala was working in a small town in far Northeastern Oregon as a Case Manager for a 25 bed assisted living community. Prior to that, she was an RN at Wallowa Memorial Hospital for five years working as a supervisor in Emergency, Obstetrics, Acute Care, and Intensive Care Units. She was also the Education Coordinator at that facility.
Kala is thrilled to be taking over this role. “I am most excited about working with the staff to develop some scheduling guidelines and consistency that will work for all the staff and for Cabinet Peaks. I love to teach and share knowledge as well as learn new things. I think we work with an awesome staff and I am honored to be stepping up to serve as a leader. I look forward to empowering the staff to work together to solve issues, to grow and develop new skills, and to continue working to provide amazing patient care.
Kala resides in Libby with her husband Terry, a medically retired respiratory therapist; her father-in-law, Darrille; four dogs; and four rescue cats.
She lives by her motto: “For every minute you’re mad, you lose 60 seconds of happiness.”
