Slow and steady wins the race — that’s the motto for one northwest Montana business.

LiV Golf Cars is continuing to grow and become a force in the golf car industry. This month, the company will send 80 new cars to the River View Golf Course in Orange County, Calif. Next month, 80 more cars will be shipped to a course in Kansas.

“Right now, we’re working on selling fleets to golf courses,” LiV facility manager Philip Erquiaga said.

The company was started in 2013 with a $368,000 Community Development Block Grant, after more than a decade of product and business development.

For the past year and a half, the company has completed all of the research and development for the cars.

“We wanted to enter the market with a finished project, and for our clients to really be pleased,” Erquiaga said.

Right now, the company employs four people locally, but the company aims to grow and create more jobs.

“We really want to be an asset to this community; that has always been one of our main goals,” Erquiaga said.

“We’re going to be hiring locally, training in-house.”

The facility already has reached out to FVCC-Libby to open lines of communication.

Currently LiV completes manufacturing for the internal wiring and harness systems on-site. The battery management system and controller are manufactured off-site and shipped to the Libby warehouse for assembly.
