We should all take pride in our city's appearance

Letter to the Editor:

After returning from a month in Texas this winter, I was rather disappointed to see the amount of trash beside the roads, especially River Road.

I was very pleased to see that someone had at least put the garbage into small piles off to the side of the road. The number of beer bottles was absolutely appalling.

I decided, when the weather was a bit warmer, to take some boxes to put the beer bottles in and transport them to the dump. But, to my surprise, there is a “garbage angel” out there who came and removed the despicable garbage.

Upon closer scrutiny, it looks like the garbage was picked up from the Libby Christian Church to County Shop Road. There is a lot of garbage left to be picked up along the roadside.

I sure could use some help, folks.

In the meantime, I would personally like to thank the person or persons who took on the back-breaking job of picking that garbage up. Way to get the ball rolling. Let’s keep it going and do our part.

Unless we all start caring about the appearance of our town, no one is ever going to want to move to Libby. I am hoping that others will care enough to start picking up the ghastly looking trash that negatively affects our city.

If you see someone throwing things out of their car windows, jot down the license plate number and report them.

It is time to show some pride in our town. If we all do our share to show we care, it can make a huge difference.
