The Troy Lady Trojans looked unbeatable in Friday’s contest against the Drummond Lady Trojans by winning the battle of Trojans in a doubleheader by a combined score of 64-7.

In the first game, Kaitlyn Downey got Troy going when she crushed a triple deep into left field, bringing Rebecca Rotolo home for the first run. Riley Maggi doubled to right field to make the score 4-0 at the end of one inning.

Lexi Tunison got the bats going for Troy in the bottom of the second inning by smacking a triple into right field. Aurora Becquart walloped a triple into right field to bring in two RBIs for Troy.

The bats got hot for Troy in the third, when they scored 17 runs to take a commanding 26-0 lead over Drummond. Kylie Carr tripled to get things started and the hits just kept coming. Riley Maggie doubled again but this time bringing home Haley Hickman and Tana Thill for two RBIs. Brenna Garrison continued the streak when she smacked a double that brought in three RBIs.

Garrison also had a great day on the mound for Troy as she pitched a no-hitter.

It was the same story for Troy in game two as they dominated again, scoring 30 runs in just five innings.

Kaitlyn Downey stepped up to the plate and delivered another triple that brought Rebecca Rotolo home for the first run. Troy poured in seven runs in the first inning.

Troy’s defense let up a little though, as Drummond fought back and scored five runs in the second inning.

Troy stepped up defensively in the third inning and held Drummond scoreless. Troy scored three runs in the inning as well. Brenna Garrison got the scoring going for Troy when she singled and brought in an RBI. Downey was back at the plate and didn’t disappoint as she hit a ground-rule double that bounced over the fence and drove in two RBIs and ran up the score to 19-7 in favor of Troy.

The runs continued to come in for Troy in the fifth inning as they were able to bring 10 players across the plate. The highlight of the inning, perhaps the game, was when Tana Thill stepped up to the plate and crushed a pitch into right field and used her speed to get around the bases for an inside-the-park homerun.

The Troy Lady Trojans will be back in action on April 9 when they travel to Thompson Falls to take on the Bluehawks.
