Maxine Eggleston, 85, of Telluride, Colo.

Maxine Eggleston died Sept. 19, 2014, at her residence in Montrose at the age of 85.

Maxine was born March 19, 1929, to Wenzel George and Sarah Elizabeth (McRae) Limberger in Durango, Colo. She spent her childhood and received her education in Durango. She worked as a waitress at the Mandarin Restaurant in Durango.

She married Charles F. Eggleston in 1951 in Albuquerque, N.M.  He preceded her in death on Oct. 20, 1990, in Montrose.

They moved frequently early on, and resided in Libby where Maxine helped found the Lincoln County Health line for battered women and opened her home to anyone in need. Years later they moved to Telluride, Colo., where they resided for 14 years and Maxine worked at a dry goods store called Pekkarine. She was a Past Noble Grand for Crescent Rebecca lodge No. 39 in Telluride.  

A celebration of life will be held Saturday, Sept. 27, 2014, at 4 p.m. at Christ Church of the Valley on Hillcrest and Main Street in Montrose. The service will conclude at the Church.  Arrangements are under the direction of Crippin Funeral Home and Crematory in Montrose.
