Libby should be proud of the new veterans memorial

| September 19, 2014 11:47 AM

I came back to Libby for a short visit and was asked by a friend to fill out forms for me and my husband for a brick. It was explained that there was a veterans memorial and for a small donation, a brick would be inscribed with the veteran’s service information and it would then be added to the Memorial.

I was taken to view the memorial and having visited many veterans memorials across the U.S. This one is the most impressive and best veterans memorial I have seen. What makes it even better is the story of how hard a very few people worked, and I understand, fought to get it up and going. Thank you to this group for their hard work.

I do have one more thing to say. Why has the city not put any signs up about the memorial or directions on how to find it?  I’m sure if signs had been up, many of the Nordicfest visitors would have visited it.

The story of the veterans memorial could have been taken back home. Isn’t that the kind of story most cities want passed on?

If you haven’t yet visited the memorial, go there soon. And oh yes, don’t forget your cameras.
