Dan Howard is a lutefisk expert

Your feature story on Dan and Freda Howard was missing one element about Dan and his Scandinavian bona fides, Dan probably being too modest to mention it.

For some time he’s been considered the local expert on lutefisk, and there’s a chapter devoted to him and that topic in the book ‘Montana Folks’ published in 2005. It’s a high quality book of stories and photographic portraits, including one of Dan, that highlights some of our state’s residents, from various walks of life, who do “extraordinary things.”

It’s a good read that more people interested in the Big Sky country should be aware of, as well as another nice feather in Dan’s cap.
