Back Adit Band

to play at Kick Off

The Libby Memorial Events Center will host their Season Series Kick Off Event at 7 p.m. Saturday. Everyone is invited.

There will be dancing, dessert and music by the Back Adit Band. The group describes their music as “eclectic retro folk jazz/swing.”

Athletic Club to host

fitness festival

In support of the “Paint it Pink” (PIP) program, sponsored by Cabinet Peaks Medical Center, the Montana Athletic Club - Libby (MAC) is hosting a PIP Community Fitness Fest during the month of October. PIP raises funds for the treatment and prevention of breast cancer in Lincoln County.

The MAC staff invites the community to join in this fitness celebration which will include tracking daily steps with a pedometer, participating in fitness activities and the PIP 5k/10k run/wallk on Saturday, October 4, sponsored by Glacier Bank and CPMC. The program is free to community members.

The program may be completed as a team, or individually. For those succeeding in the program, MAC will add their name to their PIP donation.

Go Big Blue for

Libby High football

Supporters of the Libby Logger football team are asked to wear blue Friday when the Loggers (1-2) host Stevensville. The theme of the night is “Go Big Blue.”

The booster club tailgate party begins at 5 p.m. Burgers and Logger apparel will be available.

Habitat for Humanity

taking applications

Anyone interested in becoming a homeowner with the help of Habitat for Humanity must attend an orientation session.

Christ Lutheran Church, 200 W. Larch St., will host a 7 p.m. meeting Sept. 23. Troy United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Third Street and Kalispell Avenue, will host a 7 p.m. meeting Sept. 25.

Applications are available at the Job Service building in Libby, the food pantries in Libby and Troy, the libraries in Libby and Troy, the Department of Social Services, the Libby Community Thrift Shop and the Northwest Montana Community Health Center.

Celebrate 50 years

of Wilderness

Music, wilderness skills demonstrations, food and reflections come together at Missoula’s Silver Park in a Forest Service sponsored celebration of 50 years of Wilderness Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Festivities are free. Jack Gladstone and Rob Quist and the Black Mountain Boys will provide the music.

Fifty years ago Congress passed the Wilderness Act and President Lyndon B. Johnson signed it into law. The legislation initially established 9.1 million acres of wildlands for the use and benefit of the American people. Since then Congress has added more than 100 million acres to this unique land preservation system.

Libby Library to host

board meeting

Lincoln County Public Libraries will have a board meeting 10 a.m. Saturday at the Libby Library.
