Loren Olbekson Jr., 80, of Libby

Loren E. Olbekson, Jr., 80, died on Monday, Sept. 8, 2014, at his home in Libby.

He was born June 30, 1934, in Alexandria, Minn., to Loren E. and Floretta E. Mohawk Olbekson. He spent most of his growing years in Cass Lake, Minn., with his parents and siblings.  

Loren moved to Libby at age 18 and went to work at the local lumber mill until he retired. He married Alice May Martin in August of 1954, and they moved into the home where he spent the rest of his entire life.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Alice May, brothers Vernon and Dick, and sister Patty.

He was a wonderful father, son, brother and granddad, as well as a good friend. He was much loved and will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his two daughters Lorene Smith (Brad) of Hermiston, Ore., and Lois Olbekson, Libby; adopted-in-love children Craig and Renee Fox of Libby; a brother Norman Olbekson (Ann); sisters Carol Brothers of Libby, Barbara Moore (Larry) of Gold Creek; four grandchildren Jeremy Smith (Rebecca), Jonathan Smith (Erin), Amanda Goforth (Tanner) and Meagan Roloff; eight great-grandchildren Zachary, Johan, Sylar, Vivian, Matthew, Bellissima, Tearan and Trace.

A celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the family home at 248 Glendora in Libby.  Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby. Online memories and condolences may be made at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
