Cabinet Peaks employee honored

Cabinet Peaks Medical Center announced recently that one of its own has won the Frontier Medicine Better Health Program’s Innovator of the Year Award.

Laura Larson-Crismore’s project was voted on by her peers at the summit who chose her for this award.

She has worked at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center for almost nine years; her first eight years as a medical technologist in the laboratory before transferring to the quality improvement specialist position almost a year ago.

Call before digging on your property

In our world today, many of the utility services to our homes and businesses are buried underground. While visually nice, this adds responsibilities whenever digging occurs. The buried services, commonly called utilities, belong to those utilities and must be located in any proposed dig sites.

Whether you’re planting a shrub, rototilling a garden or installing a fence, you must call and request that the buried facilities in your dig area be identified prior to digging. The location of these underground facilities will be identified with paint colors.

UDIG is a free service that provides a single phone number for the public to call to notify utilities with buried facilities that may be affected by the excavation project. It’s provided by Flathead area utility companies and municipalities whose purpose is to make the excavating process safe.

Request your free locate by calling 1-800-551-UDIG (8344).

Cabinet Peaks revamps Paint it Pink

Since Paint It Pink fundraising efforts began in 2007, the fund has helped to provide a digital mammography machine, as well as over 150 free diagnostic and screening mammograms to uninsured men and women in Lincoln County.

However, with changes brought on by the Affordable Care Act, it is possible that in the near future there will no longer be uninsured men and women for whom to provide these free mammograms.

Because of these changes, the Paint It Pink committee decided to raise funds for a broader purpose - the detection and treatment of breast cancer for the people of Lincoln County.

A second Paint It Pink fund will be opened, and future donations will be deposited into that account.

The team is gearing up for another pink October, and is close to having a schedule of events ready for the public.

If you are interested in getting involved in the Paint It Pink program, or holding your own fundraiser, please contact Kate (283-7140) or Tanya (283-7221) at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center.
