Darren Short filed Friday as a write-in candidate for Lincoln County sheriff for the November 4 election.

The other candidates for the sheriff seat are Roby Bowe, the current sheriff, and Bill Clark.

In Short’s filed candidacy form, he named Peggy Lee Rayome as his campaign treasurer. His campaign account will be through the Lincoln County Credit Union.

In 1997, Short worked as a reserve deputy in the Sheriff’s Office, and followed that by working at the Libby Police Department for three years from 1998 to 2001. After that, Short worked as the Troy resident deputy for the Sheriff’s Department.

He worked as a detective for the Sheriff’s Office for four years from 2002 to 2006. He now works for the Libby Police Department.

Short said he did not want to comment on the matter further until next week after he talks with his campaign manager.
