Friends of the Library book sale on Nov. 7

The Libby Friends of the Library will hold a book sale on Friday, Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The library has completely reworked their collection of both fiction and nonfiction books and videos and have a great many new books available for sale.

The entrance for the book sale is on Main Street, and all proceeds go to benefit the library.

Elks holding annual Veteran’s Day dinner

The Elks’ annual Veteran’s Day Dinner will be held at the Elks Lodge, 220 West 4th St., on Nov. 11 at 5 p.m.  The dinner is free to all veterans and their families.

Wounded grizzly near Marias Pass

Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks officials have issued an alert that a wounded grizzly bear has been seen in Hunting District 415 near Marias Pass.  The female grizzly and her two cubs charged two separate groups of hunters on Sunday and Monday.

Until the bear is located, officials recommend avoiding the area or exercise extra caution while hunting and removing animals from the field. 

Annual Community Thanksgiving dinner

The Libby Ministerial Association and the Libby Evangelical Association of Pastors is holding their fifth annual Thanksgiving dinner at 2 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 27, at the VFW Hall located at 112 West 2nd in Libby.  The dinner is free and open to all and delivery is available upon request.

Mule Deer Foundation hires regional director

The Mule Deer Foundation has hired Michael Kuiper of Great Falls as its second regional director for Western Montana.  With four active chapters in Montana, Kuiper’s appointment will allow the Mule Deer Foundation to serve a greater population in Montana.

The foundation plans to open new chapters in Dillon, Havre, and Polson in Western Montana within the next year, in addition to Lewiston, Glasgow and Sidney/Glendive in eastern Montana.
