Karen Stensaas of Marion

| October 21, 2014 11:35 AM

Karen Dee Stensaas was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, and passed away peacefully in Kalispell. She was a resident of Marion. She lived in Modesto, Calif. most of her life.

Karen went to Thomas Downey High School, graduated from Modesto Junior College and became a registered nurse. She worked compassionately with cancer patients on the oncology ward at Doctors Hospital. She was very loving to the families of the cancer patients as well as the patients. Everything she took on she poured her heart into.

Karen loved all animals but especially her horse, dogs and cats. Her passion was riding her horse. She rode all over the Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Montana foothills and mountains. She was a tennis player, piano player, swimmer and most recently a barrel racer at rodeos. Karen excelled in everything she did. She lived life to the fullest.

Karen will be greatly missed by all who truly knew her. Karen is survived by her husband Will Strauss; children Troy, Brimm, Justin (Sunni) Green, Vickie Wells; grandchildren Ezra, Dylan and Justin; and best friend Toonie.

She was preceded in death by her father William “Bill” Stensaas; mother Mildred Stensaas; sister Nancy Stensaas; and grandchild Lennon.

Services are to be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers please make donations to the Cancer Society of Prison Ministries.
