Libby spikers stumble in Missoula
The Libby Lady Loggers volleyball team traveled to Missoula with high hopes. Despite competing against AA teams, Libby historically fares well at the annual invite. Entering with a 5-2 record, Libby stumbled during the first day of competition Friday.
The tournament hosted 16 teams, splitting squads into two, eight-team brackets. The Lady Loggers did not win any of the seven matches they played Friday. Libby had their best showings against Polson and Anaconda, splitting 20-point sets with both teams. With so many matches to play in a single day, teams played two-set matches to 20 points.
The Lady Loggers 2-12 record earned them the lowest seeding heading into the knockout stage Saturday.
Losses to Frenchtown and Great Falls booted the Lady Loggers out of the invitational.
Despite the set back, Libby remains hopeful for a playoff spot. The Lady Loggers travel Tuesday to Thompson Falls.
