Here are six reasons I am voting Democratic

| October 14, 2014 11:18 AM

Sometimes I have to wonder what the heck people are thinking or even if they are thinking.

The elections are a few weeks away, and many voters do not even know who or what party they will vote for.

I am voting Democratic for the following reasons:

1. Every citizen should be able to vote, even on Election Day

2. I believe the minimum wage should be raised. It has not been raised in seven years

3. Student loan interest rates should be lowered.  Our government makes $60 billion a year off the backs of students.

4. Women should be able to make the same money doing the same job as a man. They should not be told by a man what health decision they should choose.

5. This is the richest country in the history of the world and some of our children are going to bed hungry and without health insurance.

6. Don’t let some $50 million-a-year TV talking head tell you how to vote. Don’t vote against your own interests - in other words, think about what makes this such a great country and such a great state to live in.

As Franklin Roosevelt said in his 1937 inaugural address: “The test of our progress is not whether we add more to the abundance of those who have much; it is whether we provide enough for those who have too little.”

Now get out of your recliners and couches and go vote.
