Thanks again for painting the big 'L'

| October 10, 2014 12:12 PM

After a number of conversations among past Libby High School students  who have long since graduated, it was suggested that a letter of appreciation be written to commend some outstanding community-minded people. Please know how very much we enjoy the restoration of the big “L” on the steep hillside facing town.

The assignment of the annual whitewashing of the “L” was faithfully given to the incoming freshman class as a part of initiation; it’s a cherished part of memories of our high school days.

At the homecoming game half-time each year, the big flood lights on the field (current baseball field at the overpass) would blink a number of times and then go black while the crowd waited expectantly to see if our new frosh class got the job done by lighting flares to correspond with the darkness on the home field.

To you, Dee Teske, and all of those making the tough trek, carrying the numerous buckets of paint, and to the businesses that generously provided materials and equipment (Ace Hardware, Western Building Center and McLaury Apiaries) please know how greatly you have touched so many of us.

We surely couldn’t have achieved the task, but you did. Thanks a bunch.
