Out of luck at the Libby, Spokane VA clinics

| October 10, 2014 12:13 PM

I read with interest the letter from Greg Ohland about his disrespectful treatment at the Libby VA clinic and lack of help from the Spokane VA center.

I too had no luck dealing with the VA in both Spokane and Libby. I went to Spokane seeking help with my hearing. After being put off and delayed I was finally told I didn’t qualify for any help.

Finally, I called Fort Harrison and was immediately told I did qualify for help and did qualify for my prescription medicine as well as hearing aids and glasses.

I went to the VA clinic in Libby twice; once for help in how to give myself insulin injections  for my diabetes, and once for a simple blood pressure check. I was told both times they would not help me if I was going through Fort Harrison. This resulted in my having to drive to Kalispell twice instead of having both simple procedures done in an hour in Libby.

It was my naive understanding that the VA was here to aid all veterans. In attempting to deal with Libby VA I found I was sadly mistaken. It would be nice to be able to go to Libby for simple procedures.

Until there are some changes made in Libby, I will be going to Kalispell for all my VA needs. I might add that the doctors and staff at the VA clinic in Kalispell are always friendly prompt and respectful at all times.
