Larry Ferda, 75, of Libby

Larry Michael Ferda, 75, passed peacefully at his home in Libby Oct. 6, 2014.

He was born June 23, 1939, in Great Falls to John  Ferda and Evelyn Mahnke Ferda.  

Larry served in the U.S Navy Reserves from 1957-1963. He graduated from the Meat Cutter School in Toledo, Ohio. He spent the next 35 years working at various locations across Montana before coming to Libby in 1981 to take a job in the Libby Rosauers Meat Department. He then worked at the Canoe Gulch Ranger Station until retiring in 2011.  

Larry loved baseball, hunting, huckleberry picking and the outdoors. He loved spending time with kids and friends.  

Larry is survived by his loving companion Deena L Farris; Larry Ferda, Jr. of Idaho Falls, Idaho; Andrew (Tate) Ferda of Great Falls; Brenda Ireland of Power; Candy Ireland of Great Falls; Loren Lefebre of Great Falls; Mike Lefebre of Great Falls; Pennee Ferda of Eureka, Calif.; Brian Ferda of Oklahoma City, Okla.; numerous grandchildren; a brother John Ferda of Great Falls; sister Joanne Mitchell of Great Falls; and a brother George Ferda of Florida.

Graveside services will take place at 2 p.m. Oct. 14, 2014, at the Libby Cemetery, followed by luncheon at the American Legion Club. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Libby Little League or Hospice. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home in Libby.
