Mary Lou Brown, 76, of Libby

| October 3, 2014 10:50 AM

Mary Lou Brown, 76, passed away peacefully at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in Libby on Sept. 26, 2014.  She was born June 12, 1938, in Queens, N.Y., to George and Louise Mueller.  She attended school at Jamaica Vocational High School for Girls and graduated with her high school diploma and her degree in cosmetology on June 22, 1956.

Mary Lou worked in New York for a year before moving by train with her family to Spokane, Wash. She worked as a cosmetologist in Spokane for a few years, winning several awards for hair design before moving to Libby in 1961.

She ran her own shop in Libby for several years before going to work with Esther Parker, where she remained until her retirement.

Mary Lou married Douglas Brown on July 30, 1966. They had two daughters, Corinne Brown Wright and Leanne Brown Shelley.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband Doug; two daughters Corinne (Wade) and Leeanne (Kevin); grandchildren Jesse Shelley, Ericka Wright Jenkins (Nick), Seth Wright; great-grandchildren Sydalee Jenkins and Daisy Jenkins; sisters Margie (Mike) Sullivan, Dorothy Campbell, Georgene Diana, Nora (Don) Budig and Carol Rell; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She knew a lot of older folks couldn’t see real good, and some had a hard time hearing. So these words are for her, because they are just like her, short and sweet. On Sept. 26, 2014, everyone she has ever loved were again hers to meet.

She left this world with a smile on her face, lovely and elegant and full of grace. We could never possibly return all the love she gave. She was strong beyond words, courageous and brave.

She rests in each soul and smiles each heart. Gone on the winds to begin her new start. A love such as that, we never wanted to part.
