Donald Hawkins, 66, of Troy

| October 3, 2014 10:48 AM

Donald T. Hawkins, 66, of Troy died on Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 in Troy. He served in the United States Marines in Vietnam and then got into a lifelong career of telecommunications.   During his career, he also served several years as a volunteer on the Lake Stevens Fire Department in Washington.

There are not enough words to explain my husband and the love of my life. My first thought is that he had much integrity and was not afraid to speak the truth or what was on his mind. He was creative, sassy, witty, had spunk and a zest for life. He was intent on living life to the fullest. Just to name only a few, he extreme rafted, was an avid skier, bungee jumper and parachuted.

Always, though willing to help others and lend a hand, he also had his quiet side which included fishing, puttering in the garage and settling in with a good ole’ cowboy movie and a bowl of popcorn.

We were so excited to move to Troy and live in this beautiful part of Montana and were soon to do all the things one does when they retire.

As it is for all of us, we aren’t ready for a loved one to leave us and especially this soon but I have peace in knowing that although he loved the beauty in nature, he was more importantly beginning to know the Lord better and learning of His love for him. I have peace in knowing that he is at home with our Lord.

Donald has 3 wonderful daughters and the most loving family of a mother and many brothers and sisters that a wife could ever ask for. He has a large extended family and many solid friendships. I have truly been blessed and will miss him deeply and more than I can ever express.

Please join Donald’s family at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. John Lutheran Church, 1017 Montana Avenue in Libby, MT. Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby. Online condolences and memories may be shared at www.schnackenbergfh.com.
