May 13
• Officers responded and found out that it was a mother and her son who were looking along the road for pieces of their vehicle after hitting an elk.
• Someone called 911 to report an intoxicated driver with an open container in the vehicle. The driver was on Haul Road. When officers responded, they located a vehicle that had crashed into a pond. Libby Volunteer Ambulance, Libby Volunteer Fire Department and a tow truck responded to the scene of the accident. The driver was taken to Cabinet View Medical Center for a blood draw and then turned over to Montana Highway Patrol.
May 14
• Someone called 911 to report he was awakened by someone knocking on his door and would like the police to check it out.
May 16
• A neighbor called in to report someone was spraying weeds on a deceased person’s property.
• A caller reported a man, who is known to steal, hanging around his brother’s son.
• A caller reported that while driving home from the middle school, a man refused to get out of the road.
• A man was arrested for driving with a suspended license and booked into the county detention center.
• A caller reported that the neighbors of a day care facility in Eureka were smoking in a no-smoking zone.
• Someone reported a break-in at the Libby Food Pantry at Asa Wood.
• An administrator with the Libby School District called to report a mountain lion was seen running through Pioneer Park.
• A sex crime was reported.
• A probation officer arrested Dain Bell on charges of probation violation.
• Someone found a credit card in the parking lot of Empire Foods. The owner was contacted.
May 17
• A caller reported that someone stole her chain saw.
• A caller reported that a tree is falling over the road, being held up by only another tree branch.
• Someone called 911 and reported that they had received information that an ex-wife and a friend were selling drugs.
• A man called 911 to report a business on Mineral Avenue was left unsecured. An employee was contacted and advised to lock up the building.
• A caller reported a black and white dog had been tied up on a leash for several days and was looking like “just skin and bones.” The caller said the owner had been out of town for more than two days and someone should take care of the dog.
• A vehicle was stuck in the snow in the Yaak. Forest Service officers located the vehicle and transported the passengers to a motel in Eureka.
May 18
• A woman called dispatch to ask that officers remove her fiancé from her house. When officers arrived, they determined that the woman’s fiancé had left in her vehicle. Deputies located the vehicle on Highway 37 and made a traffic stop. The driver was arrested on charges of partner-family assault and driving under the influence.
• A caller requested a police officer come remove a syringe from his front yard that appears to have something in it.
• A caller reported he had received threats from a man he sold a motorcycle to.
• A casino employee called and said he found what appeared to be a bag of narcotics.
• An anonymous caller reported a white car was driving back and forth along Commerce Way and honking its horn. The caller said the noise was waking up her children.
• A woman called to report a man was trespassing in her business after attempting to shoplift.
• A caller reported a suspicious man was walking through the neighborhood near Montana Avenue. When contacted by Libby Police, the suspect said he was looking for his stepfather who has Alzheimer’s. The stepfather was later located.
May 20
• A caller reported children on motorcycles were racing around behind the Libby Cemetery. Libby Police made contact with the children and advised them to stop.
• A man reported two little kids on bikes out by the Mexican restaurant after his daughter almost hit one with her vehicle.
• Troy dispatch received a report of three or four males behind the locked gates at Lake Creek Dam.
• A caller reported an attempted break-in at a local taxidermy shop.
May 21
• A caller reported that three Papillion dogs had been stolen by a landlord and wanted to speak to a deputy.
• A caller reported a deceased black lab dog on Highway 2. The caller said it appeared as though the dog had been hit by a vehicle.
