David Jacobs, 56, formerly of Libby

David Edwin Jacobs, 56 of Huntsville, Ala., passed away on Feb. 28, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas.

He was born on Nov. 26, 1957, in Bismarck, N.D., to Edwin J. and Beverly (Engel) Jacobs.

David attended Libby Elementary School and Libby Junior High School. He received his Eagle Scout in 1973. He graduated from Mahomet High School in Mahomet, Ill. in 1976 and received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill. He followed in his father’s footsteps and worked for over 30 years with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

He leaves behind his loving wife, Janice, his step-great niece Victoria, and his beloved dog, Prissy. He also leaves his three children whom he loved and adored, Whitney (Donald), Caitlin and Christian.

In addition, he leaves three beloved grandchildren: Noah, Edyn and Avery.

David was preceded in death by his father Edwin (Jake) Jacobs. He leaves his mother Beverly Jacobs of Libby, his sister Ruth Jacobs of Sacramento, Calif. and his brother Terry (Alison) Jacobs of Colville, Wash. In addition, he leaves three loving nephews and one niece: Mitchell, Rebecca, Marshall and Benjamin.

David was a kind, generous, gentle, smart, funny and loving man. He will be profoundly missed by his family.

There will be a memorial service for David in Libby at a later date. The family requests that any donations made in David’s name be made to the American Heart Association or to Kootenai Pets for Life.

Visitation was Tuesday, March 11 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. followed by a funeral service from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Valhalla Funeral Home, 698 Winchester Road, Huntsville. Ala.
