Bedford Falls has nothing on Libby for generosity and kindness
Letter to the Editor,
Libby is our own personal Bedford Falls. At the end of the movie “It’s a Wonderful Life,” Clarence has written in the Mark Twain book a message for George. “Remember, no man is a failure who has friends.”
In about 2004, living in Oregon for almost 20 years, I began to feel the tug on my heart to return to Libby. As I look back, I was no doubt getting sick then, but working shift work at a mill, one is always a little sick and tired.
I see God’s providence in bringing Susan and I back here in 2007 to my family and friends, to the people who share my history, the people who I grew up with, the people who love me and Susan.
Then in 2010, I was diagnosed with primary sclerosing cholangitis, an auto-immune disease that effects your liver ducts and can cause cancer, which happened to me and resulted in half my liver being removed.
How a town like Libby can come together and show such love financially for its own not just once, but over and over as the needs come up, just amazes me.
This town is rich in good will!
Whether you sold raffle tickets, bought raffle tickets, donated to the benefit night or made desserts for the benefit night, it all is a gift of love that has touched our hearts.
Thank you all so much for making the benefit for me, Clayton Rayson, held Feb. 21, a night we will never forget.
Blessings to Libby and to each of you my friends, personally.
— Clayton Rayson
