Stroke group
meets Wednesday
The Stroke Support Group meets the last Wednesday of the month from noon to 1 p.m. at Cabinet Peaks Medical Center in the Treasure Mountain Meeting Room.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, March 26, and the topic of the meeting will be “Neurology Basics for Stroke Survivors.”

Nordicfest dinner
tickets available
Tickets for the 2014 Nordicfest Coronation Dinner/Dance at the VFW on Saturday, April 5, are now on sale.
The annual event, which reveals the Nordicfest royalty, will be at the VFW Community Room. Tickets are on sale at the Libby Chamber of Commerce, The Venture Inn and The Printing Press or from any Nordicfest Board member.
Library begins
its poetry contest
Lincoln County Public Libraries begins its eighth annual Poetry Contest.
This year, the contest will begin Tuesday, March 25. From today, poets will be able to pick up information about the contest at any of Lincoln County Public Libraries’ three branches.
Poets will not be limited to a theme this year, so show us your poetical prowess on any topic that taps your talents.
Each county resident can enter two poems, up to 100 lines. All styles are welcome and rhyme is not necessary.
As always, there are three age categories: preschool to fifth grade, sixth grade to 12th grade and an adult category.
Prizes will be awarded to the top three poets in each category and winning poets can read their poems live on 88.9 KVRZ.
This year, Tahj Kjelland as the contest judge.
The contest will close on Tuesday, April 22.
Fur-handling class
set for March 29
A fur-handling class will be held in Kalispell starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, March 29.
This class is being put on by the Montana Trapper Association. It is free and would be useful to trappers and hunters (especially bobcat and coyote hunters).
The class will be held in the conference room at the back of Snappy Sports Center store on the east end of Kalispell.
Trappers meeting
slated April 5
A spring trappers meeting will be held at the Montana Fish, Wildlife & Parks Headquarters in Kalispell, starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 5.
Department biologists, members of trapper associations and other trappers will discuss this past season’s fur harvest, quotas, make recommendations for trapping quotas and regulations for the coming year.
The meeting is open to all trappers and fur harvesters, regardless of any organization affiliations.
Man pleads guilty
in fatal DUI wreck
KALISPELL — A Kalispell man has pleaded guilty to killing two men in a drunken driving crash last fall.
KCFW-TV reports Joseph Leroy Powell pleaded guilty Thursday to two counts of vehicular homicide while under the influence.
He was charged after the Oct. 17 crash on U.S. Highway 93 south of Kalispell that killed 43-year-old Brian Delaney and Powell’s passenger, 43-year-old Patrick Moulton.
Sentencing is set for May.
