Charles Norman, 89, of Troy

Charles (Chuck) Ray Norman, 89, of Troy passed away March 3, 2014, at Mountain View Manor in Eureka.  

Chuck was born in Quapaw, Okla., to Benjamin and Pansy (Fenno) Norman on March 18, 1924. He was the sixth of nine children.

Chuck enlisted in the U.S. Navy in July 1941 and rode the merchant ships during the remainder of World War II as a naval gunner.

He married Dora Sullivan in 1947. They moved to Troy in 1958 where they had three children, Charlotte, Benjamin and David. Dora passed away in 1982. In 1983, Chuck married Joanne Nelson.  

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Charlotte Daghri; and grandson, Deji Ola.

He is survived by his wife, Joanne at the family home in Troy; sister, Roseann Rhodes of  Miami, Okla.; sons, Benjamin (Judy) of  McCleary, Wash., and David (Shelly)of Troy; six step-daughters, Becky Tebby of Benedict, N.D.; Brenda (Rick) Borders of Max, N.D.; Beth (Archie) Kinney of Troy; Betty Cartwright and Jodi Rands of Spokane, Wash., and Christina (Charles) Lacey of Terry.

Chuck also is survived by seven grandchildren, Charles Norman, Kierstin Norman Kosters and Payton Norman of Troy, Robert Norman of Libby, Brian Norman of San Diego, Calif.; Tayo Ola,  Shade Ola, Logos, Nigeria, Africa; five step-grandchildren, A.J. Kinney of Troy, Kelly Kinney of Bozeman,  Sylvia Rands of Spokane, Wash.; Barbra and Joseph Lacey of Terry. Chuck also had six great-grandchildren, Taylor, Tatem and Codee Norman, Rachel, Gabriel and Sarah Kosters.

Funeral was held at the Troy Church of God on Saturday, March 8, 2014, with graveside services immediately after. After a graveside service, a potluck lunch was provided by the Ladies Auxiliary.

Local arrangements were under the care of Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home of Libby.
