er, Dr. Vince Huntsberger, graduated from Libby High School in 1997. Huntsberger, now an emergency room physician, received a full-ride scholarship to play football at University of Montana where he won a national championship in 2001. He began his speech by congratulating the Class of 2014 and then told stories of his past high school experiences.

“It’s about the memories and the friends you made. Those will stay with you forever,” Huntsberger said.

Huntsberger also addressed the parents of the seniors after challenging students to do what they are passionate about.

“Sorry parents, but it’s not what you want, it’s what they want.” Huntsberger said.

Presentation of the graduates was conducted by Vice Principal Jim Germany and Superintendent Kirby Maki. Diplomas were presented by Lori Benson, member of the Board of Trustees. Counselor Mark Kreuz was positioned at the end of the stage to perform the tradition of moving the graduates’ tassels to the left side.

Students marched out to “Carry on My Wayward Son” performed by the high school band.

Following the ceremony, graduate Patrick Faulkner said he was excited to see what the future holds.

“You have freedom,” Faulkner said. “You get to go to work and have the chance to get yourself somewhere.”

Miller was a student at Libby High School for two years, but said he feels he built a strong connection with his fellow students.

“It is more sweet than bitter,” Miller said. “I’m going to miss my friends. Cody was right when he said this is the last time we will all be in the same place.”

The graduates gathered one last time at the elementary school gymnasium on Sunday evening for a night filled with poker, Ping-Pong and prizes.
