Model airplane enthusiasts will get an eyeful on Saturday when the Kootenai RC Flyers have their second annual Fun Fly day off Highway 37.

Organiser Norman Crum said the club’s 29 members will be bringing a variety of model aircraft out to the Jennings Haul Road site from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Sandwich boards will be posted along Highway 37, going towards Libby Dam, on Saturday morning to help with directions to the site.

Last year there were about 200 spectators during the weekend, coming from as far as Missoula, Kalispell, and Eureka, Crum said.

“Everybody likes to see the flying – it’s good to see people milling around,” Crum said, adding that he expected some overflow from the Highland Games that start today.

The fun fly was also a time for the members to get together as a club and show off their work and skills to their friends and family who make the event a social outing.

“It kindles interest in radio control flying and it’s a way to bring all of our members together, and families too,” Crum said.
