Grateful for support of Christmas program
Letter to the Editor,
It is again that time of year to give thanks to everyone who helped to make the “Give a Helping Hand Christmas Program” for 2013 a success.
This is our 34th year of bringing joy to the children in our community who need a little help to make their Christmas a pleasant experience.
There were 44 families with 102 children signed up for help. With the help of many private citizens, organizations, businesses, churches, prayer groups, who made 45-plus hats, and (quilters who made 37 quilts,) we would not have been able to help so many children.
We don’t want to forget the good Lord and Santa and his helpers, the two toy drives and a small craft fair at the Silver Spur.
The families were able to enjoy a good meal with the turkey-dinner vouchers the Troy Christian Fellowship donated for each family signed up before the deadline to sign their children up.
Thank you all for your continued support of this worthwhile project. Thanks to our great crew who helped set up and gave out the presents. We had somewhere around 600-750 packages to distribute in the two hours allotted for the scheduled families.
Times are getting tougher but keep love for one another in your heart, and we will all make it through the tough times by caring for one another.
