Agather's assessment of Sen. Tester's Wilderness Bill about forests is accurate
Letter to the Editor,
I would like to thank Max Agather for his excellent commentary on Sen. Tester’s Wilderness Bill, which he so rightly named. Max’s article is accurate.
Mr. Wayne Hirst, who, of course, was critical of the commentary, since he has been a big supporter of the Tester bill. He is not a logger, and I believe is acting as a stooge for environmental groups.
If he wants to help loggers in his promotional schemes, he should work to get all this roadless land opened for logging and other uses. Not just for forest fires and smoking up the whole state every summer and fall.
The logging part of the Tester bill is more about fire prevention than it is about logging. And don’t forget the road reclamation, all the old roads in these areas will be destroyed or reclaimed as they prefer to call it.
They probably will do more harm to the public who use the forest roads, than benefit for the loggers, especially after all the litigation by environmental groups who despise logging on any part of the national forest.
Rep. Rehberg stopped this bad bill in the House of Representatives and Rep. Daines should do his part, and do the same.
