John H. Duehr, 83, of Troy
John H. Duehr, 83, retired Troy city judge, died on Friday, Jan. 24, 2014, at Libby Care Center.
He was born June 17, 1930, at Hayward, Wisc., to John F. and Floy A. (Harmon) Duehr. He attended school in Hayward, and at 17 he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force.
John was a Vietnam War veteran. He retired from the military in 1968. He attended the University of Wisconsin in Platteville, earning a bachelor’s degree in industrial arts. He went to work for Fruehauf, Corp., in Keokuk, Iowa, in the human resource office for 14 years, and retired in 1987.
John married Patricia Anne Hughes on Aug. 5, 1955. They moved to Troy after his retirement.
In 1989 he was appointed as city judge in Troy until he retired in December 2009. He enjoyed model railroads, taking college courses on DVDs, watching old movies, and opera. He never stopped learning.
His wife, Patricia, preceded him in death in 2011.
Survivors include his daughter, Kathryn (Steve)Marlin of Keokuk, Iowa; granddaughter, Golda (Bryan) Monohon of North Liberty, Iowa; grandson, Kyle Marlin of Cedar Falls, Iowa; great-grandchildren Landon and Calvin.
Private family services are being held.
